We are seeking an experienced individual with a growth mindset to join our team as an Innovation Consultant with a keen focus on delivery by driving ideas to maturity through the InnoVentures “funnel process. 

Responsibilities

This position will be part of FM InnoVentures unit and is based in Providence, Rhode Island with the following responsibilities: 

 

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with staff and operations senior leaders to understand, identify and prioritize innovation challenges/opportunities across the organization. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for the prioritized business challenges/opportunities. 
  • Develop a “learn” phase business case, gain alignment, and define a clear roadmap and ROI for solutions addressing the prioritized business challenges/opportunities. 
  • Follow design thinking and agile type process to progress ideas from investigation through proof of value phases of the InnoVentures “funnel process” with a focus on consistently delivering quality and timely outcomes for the strategic priorities. 
  • Capture and assess external insight by identifying and sharing industry and technology signals and associated trends that provide opportunity for innovation and growth. Be an active contributor to and collaborator with the FM Global Insights Center of Excellence led by Corporate Marketing. 
  • Be a thought leader and develop subject matter expertise in industry, technology, and business. 
  • Engage with the start-up and vendor ecosystem to identify and evaluate startups/vendors to support solutioning and/or help guide investment partner or buy decisions.  
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in innovation methodologies and process to bring new ideas to the organization. 
  • Contribute to implementing the vision and strategic planning for InnoVentures. 
  • Bring a team first mindset with a willingness to contribute to staff mentoring and by championing continuous process improvement within InnoVentures 

Qualifications

 Experience: 

  • 5+ years of experience in innovation, strategy, technology or a related field 
  • Proven track record of driving innovation in a corporate environment 
  • Technology, project management and business experience 
  • Strong understanding of innovative methodologies and tools 
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Proven track record of successfully driving change, fostering a culture of innovation, and developing and delivering innovation projects and solutions 
  • Initiative-taking, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for driving results 

Required Skills: 

 

  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and engage diverse audiences at all levels 
  • Strong presentation skills 
  • Strong analytical and data evaluation skills – with the ability to extract and interpret data from various sources and transform it into insights and recommendations. 
  • Successfully support a “lean,” test-and-learn/rapid iteration environment to explore new emerging opportunities 
  • High level of attention to detail 
  • Comfortable working in a cross-functional environment 
  • Strong planning and organization skills 
  • Collaborate and effectively interact with all levels of the organization, clients and partners 
  • Must possess strong creative critical thinking skills with the ability to think past current business model and technology boundaries to see what is possible. 
  • Ability to assimilate and synthesize unstructured information and convey these insights in a concise and compelling way to influence others to act. 

 

The salary range for this position is $114,300 to $164,200. The final salary offer will vary based on geographic location, individual education, skills, and experience. The position is eligible to participate in FM Global’s comprehensive Total Rewards program that includes an incentive plan, generous health and well-being programs, a 401(k) and pension plan, career development opportunities, tuition reimbursement, flexible work, time off allowances and much more.
