This is a US-based position that is eligible for remote work. Candidates must be open to periodic travel to headquarters located in Johnston, RI, dependent on business needs. Must be willing to work EST hours.  

Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join us as a FinOps IT Practice Lead! 

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to manage and optimize the financial aspects of our IT operations, with a specific focus on Azure cloud services. You will contribute to the financial optimization of IT Cloud and on-premises resources within a dynamic and global organization.  

Your primary objectives will include cost management, show back, TCO and influencing decision-making processes to ensure efficient resource allocation. This role will also focus on On-Prem cost management, with the ability to leverage supporting data to provide key insights into the total service cost to business lines. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with global technical and business leaders to gather requirements for solutions and building and managing relationships with stakeholders.  

As the FinOps IT Practice Lead, you will be responsible for the following key responsibilities: 

  • Discover possibilities for consolidating infrastructure to enhance cost-efficiency. 
  • Develop and maintain financial models to analyze Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for on-premises infrastructure versus cloud solutions. 
  • Establish reporting mechanisms for TCO transparency and implement an internal show back program. 
  • Create and manage dashboards to offer insights into spending and cost trends related to cloud/on-prem/Telco-Networking. 
  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement cost-reduction policies and guidelines. 
  • Foster and maintain connections with relevant parties to ensure financial objectives are met and facilitate collaboration among international technical and business executives to gather necessary specifications. 
  • Apply strong analytical skills to identify trends and offer recommendations. 
  • Collaborate closely with relevant individuals to have a say in decision-making processes concerning the allocation and investment of IT resources. 
  • Implement policies and guidelines for effective cost management. 
  • Keep informed about the latest trends in FinOps and cloud cost management for the industry. 

Qualifications

Minimum of 5+ years of relevant professional experience in IT, Finance, Data Analytics, or related fields.  

Experience with IT financial management in Cloud environments 

Proven experience with cloud platforms (Azure Preferred, AWS & Google Cloud a plus!), cloud services (e.g. compute, storage, networking & security), and effective approaches for cost management. 

Understanding Azure Cloud services, FinOps principles, and effective approaches is important.  

Experience in developing and implementing cost-reduction policies.  

Good communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to collaborate in a diverse team setting, are valued.  

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are also required. 

Education 

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in finance, IT, or related work experience.  

Additionally, being a FinOps Certified Practitioner via the FinOps Foundation is highly preferred. 

The hiring range for this position is $114,300 to $164,200, and the final salary offer will vary based on geographic location, individual education, skills, and experience.
