Responsibilities

Job Summary: To plan, conduct, and direct development/evaluation of approved scientific and engineering projects, with minimal supervision, in an electrical engineering discipline to increase technical knowledge and provide solutions.  This position typically conducts work as part of a research program under the supervision of a Program Manager.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • To develop or direct the evaluation of, under guidance from a Program Manager, engineering solutions, new engineering technologies, or scientific knowledge in electrical engineering discipline
  • To serve as an engineering or scientific communicator of plans, progress, and project results between the company, its customers, and outside organizations.
  • To develop and market proposals for engineering or scientific research development and application supported by sources inside or outside the company.
  • To contribute to internal and external team activities leading to betterment of corporate work processes, image, and work environment
  • To develop competence in a progressively increasing number of engineering or scientific techniques and applications to meet the company’s objectives.
  • To keep the Program Manager informed of the status and progress of all assigned projects and aware of any significant matters affecting the achievement of objectives.

  

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education: PhD in electrical engineering OR MS + 5 years of related experience OR BS + 8 years

Experience:

(Required) 5+ years of design and/or operation & maintenance experience on electrical/power generation (including renewables) equipment (such as generators, transformers, wind, solar, and battery energy storage). Exposure to power electronics, electrical system studies and modeling is a plus. Knowledge of relevant standards and guidelines.

(Desired) Engineering or research in special area of electrical engineering commanding industry recognition or leading to publication as author of original work in peer review journal.

Skills:

  • Interested in continuous learning and expanding abilities and skills while undertaking challenging problems.
  • Proficient analytical skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic multi-disciplined team environment.
  • Superior written and communication skills for report writing and communication of technical concepts to internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrated project management skills including technical, financial, and personnel management for a significant project.
  • State of the art knowledge in special area of electrical engineering including experience with related areas of analysis and experimental techniques.
  • Familiarity with office tools for business and technical communication.
