The Investment Analyst – Fixed Income will perform fundamental credit analysis in support of generating investment returns in excess of designated benchmarks. Primary responsibilities include the development and communication of investment recommendations on assigned industries. This requires qualitative and quantitative analysis of fundamental factors and the ability to make relative value recommendations. Independence will be gained as experience and judgment allows. Sector coverage is flexible based on person hired.

Schedule & Location:

This position is an exempt, full-time office-based position, Monday through Friday in our Waltham or Boston, MA locations.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend bonds for investment with a goal of contributing towards favorable portfolio returns over a benchmark; key measurement periods are 1-, 3- and 5-year returns.
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of assigned industries. Analysis will support existing investments and the generation of new investment ideas using a relative value framework to identify the most attractive industries, companies, and securities to own.
  • Document investment thesis, key catalysts, financial policies, rating agency risks, and relative value framework for each issuer covered. Financial modeling may be required for some positions to better understand the credit trajectory. In the search for attractive investment opportunities, the analyst should build relationships with industry participants to develop a broader understanding of their companies and industries, with a goal of understanding how their independently acquired view compares to the broader market.
  • Analyst should be able to understand and incorporate into their analysis any relevant bond covenants, structural considerations, and technical considerations.
  • Contribute to the team’s overall performance by sharing perspectives on appropriate portfolio positioning and holdings, the broader economy, and other topics that may be relevant.
  • Ad hoc projects or work as necessitated by the needs of the business.
