Responsibilities

 

The successful candidate will have the necessary skills to test and certify fire and explosion suppression products, including clean agent, carbon dioxide and dry chemical extinguishing systems to relevant codes and standards. Primary office location is FM’s Engineering and Research facility in Norwood, MA, with occasional work at state-of-the-art facility in West Glocester, RI, USA. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage a large portfolio of Approval projects in various phases of the project life cycle, with the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Create detailed project plans, examination requirements, schedules, and budgets. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Develop detailed technical reports and other certification documentation necessary for FM Approval.
  • Interface directly with customers.  Customer communication is to be timely and concise and will be by e-mail, phone or video call or in person
  • Approximately 20% domestic/international travel required.

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the fire protection industry in product development or testing/certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry fire and explosion protection codes and standards (FM, ANSI, NFPA, ISO, etc.) preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential due to frequent customer interface.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy and competency with MS Office applications required.

 

Local Candidates Only – Relocation support is not available for this role. 

Candidates will be considered for an Engineer or Advanced Engineer role based on experience.
