Responsibilities

As a Technical Information Center/Library Information Studies Intern you will experience working in a corporate library setting and will be assisting in inventorying and processing a variety of TIC material, including internal company publications, reports, serial holdings, historical materials and more. The focus of the collection is primarily engineering and research. Additionally, you will receive extensive experience working with the FM Global Historical Collection which dates back to the founding of the company in 1835. The historical collection includes print, bound materials, photographs, art, and artifacts.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Locating and organizing collections of publications
  • Arranging and boxing items for storage and labeling archival materials
  • Scanning documents and uploading files to digital collections
  • Arranging, photographing and describing materials
  • Assist with various database cleanup projects
  • Other responsibilities as needed

 

 

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in Master’s in Library and Information Services/Studies is required, preference given to students with a focus in Archival Studies
  • Detail oriented
  • Electronic cataloging skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong desire to learn about features and functions of corporate libraries
  • Must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 35 pounds, bend and climb

This is an in-office role based in Norwood, MA.  

 

20 hours per week – flexible.  Total of 200 hours or 10 weeks
