At FM, our Innovation team prides itself on creating the next generation of risk management solutions for prioritized client and business problems and collaborating with FM Investments to target strategic business venture opportunities. We identify, explore, and invest in bold ideas and emerging technologies to help our clients build resilience, and we engage with key stakeholders to accelerate adoption. We are expanding our team and seeking a dynamic Innovation Consultant with growth opportunities within Innovation and our internal customer Staff Groups. The successful candidate will be an experienced resource in strategic business venturing, solution creation, and strategic planning. They will collaborate across departments, external vendors, and start-ups to provide solutions, identify industry and technological signals and trends, and be recognized as a subject matter expert in disciplines such as industry, technology, and business.

• By working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, you will acquire deep insights into due diligence, deal execution, and sustainable business scaling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with staff group and operations senior leaders to identify strategically prioritized business challenges and emerging opportunities for FM that require an element of learning, developing, and gaining alignment to associated business cases, and defining a clear roadmap to a solution.
• Strive for Trusted Advisor level relationships at the VP and SVP level within assigned Staff Groups (i.e., Engineering & Research; Underwriting; Client Service, Sales & Marketing).
• Maintain a keen focus on delivery by incrementally investing and maturing ideas through investigation, PoC’s, PoV’s and to transition for build consideration with a focus on consistently delivering quality and timely outcomes for strategic priorities.
• Optimize delivery by ensuring strong alignment with the project sponsor and dependent resources.
• Own and manage relationships within the ecosystem of startups and vendors to support solutioning for strategic business challenges. It will actively influence strategic venture partner or buy decisions.
• Become a source of external innovation ecosystem insight by identifying industry and technological signals and associated trends that support and drive challenge and disruptive innovation ideas.
• Contributes to, and drive thought leadership dialog with the Innovation team and invest broadly in developing as a subject matter expert in one or more disciplines in areas such as industry, technology, and business.
• Have a team first mindset exhibited by proactively contributing to staff mentoring and by proposing, aligning with, and adopting best process practices within the industry and internally with FM’s Delivery Practices and Strategy Execution Office.
• Contribute ideas and influence decisioning specific to Innovation’s strategic planning.
• Promote a culture of innovation collaboratively with the Innovation Consultant-Insights, Culture & Education on our team.

• 4-year bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering or science.
• MBA and Project management qualifications (i.e., PMP certification) would be a plus.
• 7+ years of experience in innovation, strategy, or a related field including start-up or strategic venture experience.
• Experience with Workfront, MS Project and research tools (i.e., Pitchbook) preferred.
• Proven track record of driving innovation in a corporate environment taking ideas, rapidly maturing them through successful execution of PoC’s and PoV’s and transitioning them for build consideration opportunities.
• Experience with forming recommendations for strategic business venture opportunities.
• Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, collaborating and effectively interacting with all levels of the organization, clients, and partners, building Trusted Advisor level relationships.
• Adept at delivering actionable insights and recommendations to leadership, external partners, and clients.
• Strong evidence of successful leadership of cross-functional teams, strong project management experience, and ability to manage timelines and approvals from multiple internal teams (Legal, Operations, Finance, Tech).
• Strong analytical and data evaluation skills – with the ability to extract and interpret data from various sources and transform it into insights and recommendations.
• Demonstrated strong business acumen with property insurance and risk management, preferred but not mandatory.

Schedule & Location:

• FTE at 500 Exchange Place, Providence, RI through May 2026 and then at our new, state of the art science and research campus in Norwood, MA thereafter. This role is in-person.
