Overview

The Asia Pacific Division has an opening for a Business Development Associate to be based in the Hong Kong office.

 

To support the continued business growth in Asia, we would like a highly motivated and driven individual to be part of the Business Development team.

 

Reporting to the Vice President, Regional Sales Manager (RSM), the individual will directly impact the top line of the company and will have the opportunity to develop long-term client relationships - a differentiator for FM.

 

Within a pre-determined, specified timeframe, not to exceed two years, to develop the skill sets and understanding of the practices and procedures of Business Development Executive (BDE) in order to become a competent and contributing member of the Company Sales staff.  Upon completion of the training, the incumbent will move to the Business Development Executive position.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

 

Successfully complete the Business Development Associate training program.  This program would include formalized training classes, computer based online training, self-study and trailing of experienced Sales staff.  Training plan would include but is not exclusive of Understanding the Prospect Universe, Strategic and Conceptual Selling, Trusted Advisor I and II, Negotiation, Client Service Principles, Core Underwriting Skills, FM technical systems in support of sales.

 

Under the supervision of experienced sales personnel:

  • Assist in Call Plans, Strategy Development and Client Service Plans
    • Establish call plans and complete call reports in the SRS.  Review strategic calls with the RSM.
    • Initiate Situational Analysis documents in BTP for chosen prospects under development and keep up to date.
    • Help BDE in development of chosen proposals, meeting presentations and other pertinent documents.
    • Keep chosen prospect information in SRS current, accurate and updated as new information is developed during the sales process.
    • Support client service team in developing a client service plan for selected prospect.
  • Learn and participate in the development of an Annual Sales Business Plan.  The plan details targeted prospects and outlines activities, such as cold calls, mailing campaigns and face to face meetings, to qualify prospects and move through the funnel.
  • Maintain an active involvement in the local insurance community (PARIMA, MARIM, Aon Insights Series, Power Forum, etc.) by participating in meetings, conferences and appearing at industry related functions.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • At least 3 years' working experience in risk management, loss prevention engineering, claims or underwriting.
  • A strong desire to move into Sales
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with prospects/clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including facilitating and presentation.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Technology and social media savvy, including proficiency in Microsoft office software
