    FM Global has embarked on a business technology transformation to accelerate the technology product development process through agile working principles. The goal: to create a more responsive, client-centric organization with high discipline and focus on delivering high valuable business technology solutions ("products") to both internal and external clients.


    Agile is a simple concept. It involves building and delivering business technology products incrementally by focusing on the highest value features first. The product is continually enhanced over time with input from users. With agile, teams are highly collaborative, cross-functional and self-managing.


    Most importantly, agile methodology can be learned. Although experience with this working model is preferable, it is not a requirement. Ideal candidates must have the business experience and specialized knowledge to lead the product development team along a path that maximizes value to the end user.

    Responsibilities - External

    The Product Owner for the Marketing Journeys is a central role in an agile technology delivery organization. This individual owns the vision, development and delivery of business technology solutions (“products”) that both internal and external users encounter within this business area (a.k.a., “the journey”). These journeys include the key business activities of:


    • Design strategy and generate content
      • Generating content, conducting market studies and gather competitive intelligence, developing marking launch strategy, executing ongoing product marketing
    • Distribution and measurement
      • Managing communications and channels (e.g. public websites), distributing internal communications, collecting and using analytics for marketing measurement, documenting and storing final content, generating leads through executing content and tracking engagement
    • Enable Enterprise Learning
      • Developing, hosting and providing learning content for new hires, annual initiatives and clients, providing in-person instruction


    Current business technology systems in this area include Workamajig, Qualtrics, affiliatedfm.com, fmglobal.com, AFM Online, Globalport, Yammer, Britecove, Sitecore, PowerBI, Documentum, Exact Target, Learning Management System and Client Training Center. This individual is responsible for conducting research on user and business needs that can lead to new business technology products or valuable enhancements to current products in place. He/she will define the product vision and prioritize the product backlog, while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the features or components that the team is responsible for.


    The Product Owner

    • Defines measurable client or end-user focused objectives at the product level.
    • Keeps the team focused on the objectives throughout the delivery cycle across different products.
    • Oversees quality control
    • Is solely empowered to accept completed stories (work that must be done to create and deliver a feature for a product).



    Additional responsibilities:


    • Sets ambitious and clear product vision and communicates the story effectively to key stakeholders and to the work team.
    • Owns the end-to-end product strategy from inception, and determines the business value once a solution enters production. Builds a backlog of product features (i.e., writes user stories and acceptance criteria) with the work team ensuring all items are clearly described, estimated and prioritized by applying systems thinking. Required to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ensures customer-driven design thinking considering user pain points and customer experience, while using market and industry knowledge to deliver a valuable product.
    • Defines customer success, ensures adoption and monitors ongoing success using tools to understand the market via usage statistics, focus surveys, surveys and feedback sessions and iterating with client/user needs as they change.
    • Leads design/product meetings, approves each feature. Drives sprint and release plans together with Scrum Master.
    • Communicates committed stories for the upcoming sprints to relevant stakeholders.


    **This position requires 10-15% of international/domestic travel.**

    Qualifications - External

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
    • 5-10 years of related work experience in Marketing, Communications and/or Learning and Training
    • Proven ability to make hard decisions in a fast-paced environment, and proven ability in supervising and coaching cross-functional individuals
    • Capable of creating and leading a high-performance culture and environment
    • Deep business expertise to set clear priorities for product and understand business value impacts
    • Is comfortable with technology and can engage in discussions with technology teams to understand risks
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate complex messages in a compelling manner
    • Strong problem-solving skills; able to operate at both strategic vision and tactical execution level
    • Proven ability to influence diverse groups of stakeholders, including senior stakeholders
