    Responsibilities - External

    The Statutory Accountant is a key member of the statutory accounting team and is involved in all areas of statutory financial reporting and compliance.


    Prepares statutory basis financial statements for the company's separate insurance entities, consolidated financial statements, and other statutory / regulatory compliance filings, reports, etc. This includes preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, workpapers, analysis and other reports, etc.


    Participates in special projects involving accounting / regulatory research and other matters related to accounting and financial reporting.


    Prepares journal entries, reconciliations and analysis related to monthly GAAP reporting.


    Manages priorities and time frames to meet objectives

    Qualifications - External

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance (other business degree in combination with strong work experience may be considered)


    Prefer professional certification (CPA, CMA)


    5+ years experience in accounting/financial reporting


    Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices


    Proficiency with financial systems and software applications (Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word. Peoplesoft proficiency is a plus)


    Attention to detail and strong organization skills


    Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills


    Good communication skills


    Ability to work independently and also within a team structure in a deadline-driven environment
