Underwriting Specialist Staff
Manage capacity while developing underwriting strategies for risk and aggregate exposures to optimize net retention and protect the corporate balance sheet. Evaluate unique underwriting challenges presented by the Operations with respect to client needs and competition. Participate in the approval of exceptions ensuring consistent and effective risk selection. Develop new coverages and products in response to changing customer needs. Contribute to the creation of innovative solutions to challenging risk, coverage, or technical or process issues. Participate in the Operations audit process. Drive underwriting discipline across all lines of business by proposing strategic direction and participating in the development and implementation of underwriting training. Analyze business to develop underwriting procedures and requirements including risk selection, capacity, line setting, and pricing in response to changing company, customer, or market concerns. Participate in continuous improvement of underwriting systems, tools and job aids to improve operations efficiency. Collaborate with Corporate Staff departments and Operations to ensure assigned projects have multidiscipline support and the corporate impact is recognized prior to implementation.
Requires Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any field) or related field of study and 5 years of property insurance underwriting experience. Requires 5 years of experience in each of the following:
Requires Strong written and verbal communication skills. Requires 10% travel.
