This position will perform insurance servicing and underwriting activities on existing accounts, underwriting of new business, and is responsible for overall account team leadership.  This position's primary function is to serve as the Account Team Leader or Manager of the Account.  This position serves as the key/primary interface with clients/brokers on all aspects of the account including insurance products and services, engineering and claims services.

The position is fully responsible for risk identification, assessment and improvement, and ongoing loss prevention consulting services to ensure the development and growth of a profitable construction business portfolioconsistent with FM Global policies, business strategies, risk engineering guidelines and objectives.   Through effective consulting on construction risk management, onsite risk identification, mitigation solutions and construction supply chain resilience, clients will be best positioned to address the many emerging risk management issues associated with optimally completing construction projects in line with planned timelines and objectives. This is accomplished through accurate identification, evaluation and quantification of risk characteristics and exposures throughout the construction project and the overall assessment of construction site risk quality as project evolves. It involves the allocation and management of both internal and external construction loss prevention and engineering resources including closely working with FM Global Cargo Risk Engineering on the storage and transportation risks associated with construction projects.   Consulting is provided to clients, their contractors and Client Service Team members on construction risk identification, prevention and mitigation, project management, contractor management, and management of change, as well as on priority risk improvement measures that have the most significant impact on loss frequency and severity during construction. This involves helping the client understand their exposures to loss events during construction and their impact on project work, achievements, and completion deadlines, recognizing the Insured’s risk tolerance level. The role will develop and recommend practical, cost-effective, mutually accept helpful solutions to reduce and/or mitigate loss during constriction.   This opportunity is available at any of our FM Global locations.

The Renewable Energy Construction Underwriter must understand exposures and risk transfer strategies unique to PV Solar, Onshore Wind, and Battery Energy Storage System construction projects. This is a full-time, in-office, permanent position, which is based in Melbourne. The position will report to the Operations Chief Underwriter.   In order to best support the growth of our operation, our ideal candidate will either have an engineering degree and experience, or recent underwriting experience. However varying levels of experience and qualifications will be considered.    Working as a critical team member on large and complex accounts under the leadership of the account manager, the underwriter supports underwriting decisions and implementation across the program.   This includes risk selection, risk assessment, and risk transfer decisions that support development and retention of a profitable book of business for the mutual benefit of FM Global and its clients. As an underwriter you will be involved in understanding the risk quality and exposure of an account, data collection and analysis, reviewing and issuing insurance policies, developing client relationships and proposal development. Supporting new business is also a key aspect of the role.      You will be provided with extensive training in underwriting, client servicing and sales as outlined in a specific development plan. This will include travel to our Corporate Office and developing networks by engaging with underwriters and account managers from around the globe. This could extend to basic engineering training based on a candidate’s experience.   Taking on a role as an Underwriter can open many new career opportunities for you, in Account Management, Sales, and specialist Underwriting roles, as well as roles in management.  By learning about one of the core areas of FM Global’s business, you will have exposure to some high profile and large Australian companies and gain firsthand experience about how FM Global develops relationships with clients and brokers.   

The AFM Account Engineer position is critical as you are the first point of contact for communicating with our insureds & broker partners for all engineering products and services. Dallas Operations has a diverse book of business including manufacturing, healthcare, warehousing, real estate, etc. You will work in a variety of occupancies while establishing yourself as a trusted adviser to our insureds & broker partners, working to protect the value of our clients’ business.   On a corporate-wide basis, the AE evaluates & assesses risk to the insured’s business in terms of nature, likelihood & severity, then clearly communicates that to the production underwriter, insured & broker partner. The AE prioritizes exposures, helps all parties understand the hazards & risks to the insured’s business, develops cost-effective solutions & drives risk improvement. The AE works closely with the production underwriter on account renewals & prospects to ensure the growth of a profitable portfolio of business for Dallas Operations. Through teamwork with field engineering, production underwriters & claims, the AFM Account Engineer provides responsive service & innovative solutions that foster long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with our insureds & broker partners.   The AFM Account Engineer position is an office-based position in Frisco, TX. The level of the position will be dependent on candidate’s qualifications and experience (AE I or AE II). Relocation plan is available.

AFM is looking for a Production Underwriter  to join the Los Angeles Office. We are open to considering candidates with varying levels of experience and qualifications. This is a unique opportunity to be part of and help maintain and grow a dynamic AFM office. This is an extremely important position because the AFM Production Underwriter is responsible for both new business production and renewal retention while maintaining underwriting profit and protecting the company’s assets.
